Dt. Thao greeting patients in office

Your first visit to our clinic will give you an opportunity to undergo a thorough consultation and examination to help us determine the root cause of your condition.

Based on the findings we will recommend a treatment program to facilitate your journey back to health.
Whether it is chiropractic and/or acupuncture that you need, a series of visits with each building on the ones before is typically needed to resolve a condition.

It is therefore important that our relationship can go the distance and we’ve found that one of the best ways to do so is to explain everything in advance. No surprises! The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy.

What to Expect as a New Patient

First Visit: Intake & Exam

All new patients are required to fill out a confidential intake form to help us fully understand your current health complaint and overall medical history. As the forms are quite comprehensive, they usually take 15-20 minutes to complete. If you have any previous x-rays, CT scans, MRI, ultrasound, etc. please bring all reports with you. Also, a list of any medications that you may be taking should be made available.

Consultation & Exam

At this initial consultation, you will discuss your health concerns and treatment goals with the doctor. You will then undergo an in-depth examination to determine the cause of your condition.

For chiropractic patients, the exam procedures consisting of computerized spinal scan, postural evaluation, range of motion and orthopedic testing will allow the doctor to assess the health of your spine. If indicated, digital x-rays will be taken to visualize the location and extent of degeneration in your spine.

For acupuncture patients, a thorough traditional Chinese medicine assessment including tongue and pulse diagnosis will be performed to enable the practitioner to determine the root internal imbalance that causes or contributes to your symptoms.

Please note that no treatment will be rendered on the first visit. It is crucial to your well-being that the doctor has time to review your case thoroughly in order to determine the appropriate treatment recommendations to facilitate your recovery.

Your first visit will be approximately 60-75 minutes in duration. At the completion of this initial visit, we will book a second visit to go over the Doctor’s Report of Findings (examination results and treatment recommendations).

We highly recommend that you bring a family member or someone close to you to this visit as research has shown that social support greatly optimizes recovery.

At this report of findings, the doctor will discuss the examination results and treatment recommendations. Details of a care program and the commitment that you will need to make to resolve your condition will be explained to you. Fees and financial arrangements will be addressed at this time.

Once onboard with the doctor’s recommendations, you will have your first treatment. Our doctors are proficient in a number of techniques and modalities. Pending on your health concern and status, the appropriate treatment strategy will be chosen to ensure the best progress.

The duration for your second visit will be approximately 50-60 minutes for chiropractic and 60-75 minutes for acupuncture. At this time, we will also schedule your appointments in advance to ensure you get your preferred time and stay on track with your treatment plan.
